Uptown Sports Club

UPTOWN SPORTS CLUB, ATX - This 1200 East Sixth Street building has been a neighborhood staple since its construction in 1893. Current owners worked with Michael Hsu Office of Architecture to restore the building to its 1960s glory as Uptown Sports Club. All materials were hand-selected for the period specific design, including the floors.

The owners sourced 3 ¼” x ¾” Antique Heart Pine from another building in downtown Austin. We were tasked with the installation and finishing of the reclaimed hardwoods.

A traditional nail-down installation process was used by our Artisan Certified Professionals. The entrance and bar areas feature a mosaic tile pattern, which we carefully scribed the wood floor around perfectly. The pine was then finished in place by our craftsmen using BonaCommercial finishes. You’d never know at the start of this project the floor was nothing more than dirt and debris.
