RAYMOND - MORLEY HOUSE
Raymond - Morley House, ATX - With a rich history dating back to its construction in 1876, the Raymond-Morley House holds a special place in the heart of Austin. Throughout the project’s various phases, our Artisan Certified Professionals tackled this historic restoration with precision and care. From seamlessly integrating new wood into the space and replacing the odd oak installations from the 1950s, every step was executed with precision and expertise.
The centerpiece of the Raymond-Morley House, the original U-shaped staircase was constructed by renowned Austin cabinet maker John W. Manning and has stood as a testament to the building’s timeless elegance. This stair system consists of pie-shaped, Antique Heart Pine treads from top to bottom.
One of the project’s most significant challenges lay in sanding the existing flooring without compromising its wear layer. Employing refined techniques and a delicate touch, our ACProfessionals successfully sanded the floor, while retaining its viability, authenticity, and character. Finishing the Pine in place, we applied a Bona Finishing System that would preserve the natural look of the wood while protecting it from wear and tear. As the Raymond-Morley House once again welcomes visitors, we take pride in our role in breathing new life into this architectural masterpiece. With every restored plank and preserved detail, we honor the legacy of the past while laying the foundation for a vibrant future.
